Poetry: “I Have Little Use For Snow” (from February 2015)

I have little use for snow

I can’t afford to ski.

When it gets this cold

I’d rather watch tv.

I shovel when I must

Until it gets too cold.

Weekly storms are too much

It’s really getting old.

Snow banks are so high

To make it tough to drive.

Walking in the snow

You’re lucky you’re alive.

Sliding in your boots

Falling on the ice.

If it finally melts

Would be really nice.

Driving during storms

Is a kind of risk.

Whiteouts driving blind

When the wind is brisk.

Staying home from work

Could make you really broke.

You could lost your job,

Which puts you on the ropes.
